黄勇，复旦大学哲学博士、哈佛大学神学博士，现任复旦大学哲学学院复旦特聘讲座教授。曾任香港中文大学（2013-2025）和宾夕法尼亚州库茨城大学（1996-2013）哲学系教授。受中西哲学传统的学术训练，他近期等研究主要聚焦于比较视域下的道德（伦理与政治）问题。

黄勇教授曾担任多项重要职务，包括美国宗教学会儒家传统小组联席主席、哥伦比亚大学新儒学研究大学研讨会联席主席、美洲华人哲学家学会主席，以及香港中文大学哲学系系主任。他是《道：比较哲学杂志》（Dao: A Journal of Comparative Philosophy）的创刊主编，该期刊目前是英语世界非西方哲学领域最杰出的学术期刊。黄勇教授还是首个且目前还是唯一专注于中国哲学的系列丛书——《“道”中国哲学指南》（Dao Companions to Chinese Philosophy）的创刊主编，该丛书迄今已出版了20卷。最近，他还创办了另一套丛书 《与中国哲学相遇复旦研究》（Fudan Studies of Encountering Chinese Philosophy），目前已出版两卷（分别关于Michael Slote和Ernest Sosa），第三卷（关于Simon Blackburn）即将出版；并与王庆节教授共同主编了中文丛书 《香江哲学》。此外，他还在30多种中英文学术期刊和丛书的编委会任职

黄勇教授在中国哲学和比较哲学、伦理学、政治哲学和宗教学等领域著作颇丰，除出版和编辑专书各近十部外，还发表了中英文学术文章各百余篇。

目前他正在完成4部英文书稿：

黄勇教授的教学兴趣非常广泛。在香港中文大学任教期间，他讲授的本科和研究生课程包括：《先秦道家哲学》《先秦儒家哲学》《中国哲学经典导读：王阳明》《美德伦理学：新亚里士多德主义、新休谟主义和新儒家》《民主、贤能政治与儒家》《道德相对主义：以评价者为中心的、与行动主体为中心的和以行动对象为中心的》《自由主义中立性、国家完善论和儒家》《二程与当代道德哲学》《王阳明与当代道德哲学》《当代儒家政治哲学》《庄子文本中的伦理学》《道德实在论、反实在论和儒家》等。
