Short bio of the speaker: Professor Zhao Tingyang is a first-class professor of National Liberal Arts, a member of the Academic Council of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a researcher of the Institute of Philosophy, and a librarian of the Central Research Center for Literature and History. He is National Outstanding Professional and Technical Talent. He is also a member of the Academic Standing Committee of the European Institute for Intercultural Studies, a Senior Fellow of the Boguerius Institute, and a Posse Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Lecturing Professor at the Harvard-Yenching Institute and the Department of East Asian Studies at Harvard University (2013).


Professor Zhao Tingyang has long been engaged in philosophical research in the fields of existentialism, political philosophy, and philosophy of history, and his representative theories include “The Tianxia System”, “The Vortex Model”, “Co-existence Theory”, and “Pre-paid Human Rights”, and so on. His major works include On Possible Live (1994), The Tianxia System: An Introduction to the Philosophy of a World Institution (2005), Investigations of the Bad World: Political Philosophy as First Philosophy (2009), First Philosophy: From Cogito to Facio (2013), A Possible World of All-under-heaven System: The World Order in the Past and for The Future (2016), Tianxia tout sous un meme ciel.
