Job description | About School of Philosophy Fudan University : The School of Philosophy at Fudan University traces its roots to the founding of the Department of Philosophy in 1956, a pioneering institution for modern philosophical education in China. In 2006, the School of Philosophy was formally established. The School of Philosophy prioritizes balanced development across its diverse sub-disciplines, achieving distinction in Chinese philosophy, Western philosophy, Marxist philosophy, religious studies, ethics, aesthetics, logic, philosophy of science, and more. It fosters interdisciplinary dialogue through 22 affiliated research platforms, including Center for Contemporary Marxism in Foreign Countries, Center for Global Ethics, Center for the Philosophy and Science of Intelligence and etc. The undergraduate curriculum emphasizes foundational philosophical texts and theories while encouraging independent thought within a broad humanistic framework. Unique collaborative programs such as Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), Mathematical Logic Program, along with two English-taught graduate programs—Chinese Philosophy and Culture and Chinese Religious and Culture—highlight its innovative approach. Dual-degree partnerships with the University of Birmingham (UK) and Western Ontario University (Canada) further enhance its global engagement. Graduate education stresses rigorous training in critical analysis, textual interpretation, and multidisciplinary methodologies, adhering to international standards to equip scholars for impactful research on the global stage. The School also hosts over 600 students and employs a distinguished faculty of 71 academic staff, including 35 professors, 27 associate professors, and a multilingual cohort with 93.8% holding overseas experience. Its expansive global network spans institutions such as Boston College (USA), University of Cologne (Germany), Shinshu University (Japan), and Australian National University, solidifying its role as a hub for cross-cultural philosophical exchange. Job Descriptions: Responsibilities: To engage in high-quality research, establish new research areas in collaboration with professors of the University and outside, publish research work in international peer-reviewed journals of repute, teach courses within the School and across the University, supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, develop external funding for research support, and participate in institution building. Required and preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in Philosophy (by time of appointment); high foreign language proficiency; strong research record; evidence of effective teaching.
