2025 marks the 8th edition of the Fudan University Summer School in Mathematical Logic. This year, we are honored to welcome Professor Yu Liang from Nanjing University and Dr. Ben Castle from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, who will deliver outstanding courses in recursion theory and model theory.
Below is a detailed introduction to the summer school, along with the registration link.

Yu Liang is a Professor at the School of Mathematics, Nanjing University. His main research interests lie in mathematical logic, particularly recursion theory, set theory, and algorithmic randomness. In collaboration with various colleagues, he has resolved several open problems, such as whether the r.e. degrees form an elementary substructure of the d.r.e. degrees, the characterization of randomness, developments in higher recursion theory and randomness, and the relationship between determinacy axioms and the axiom of countable choice.

Ben Castle is a mathematical logician in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on model theory and its interactions with algebra, geometry, and combinatorics. He has held postdoctoral positions at the Fields Institute, the University of Notre Dame, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and the University of Maryland, where he worked on reconstruction theorems in geometry from the perspective of model theory.
Application
The Fudan University Summer School in Mathematical Logic welcomes undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in mathematical logic to apply.
Applicants must complete the following steps by 11:59 PM, June 15:
Fill out the online application form on the summer school website:
https://survey.fudan.edu.cn/t/5ZFWT3
Note: The summer school does not provide meals or accommodation.
If you wish to apply for financial aid (RMB 3,000 per person, limited to 10 recipients), please complete the online form and ask one referee to send a recommendation letter directly from their own email address to logic@fudan.edu.cn. Referees should preferably be scholars in mathematical logic or related fields.
Important: Applying for financial aid implies a commitment to attend all courses in the selected week(s) of the summer school in person. Applicants may choose to attend only one of the two weeks and receive half the amount in aid accordingly.
