Fu Xinyi,born in December 1970 in Tongxiang, Zhejiang, holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and serves as Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at the School of Philosophy Fudan University, the Head of the Department of Religious Studies and Director of the Institute of Religious Studies of Fudan University. He also serves as a member of the editorial committee and Deputy Editor-in-Chief for the Chinese Tripitaka(Chinese part) Sequel, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Studies of Buddhist Culture , and editorial board member for journals such as China Social Science Excellence: Religion, Journal of the Buddhist Academy of China, and Hai Chao Yin. Additionally, he acts as Ph.D. and Master Supervisor at institutions including the Buddhist Academy of China, Buddhist College of Minnan, Buddhist Acdemy of Zhejiang, Buddhist Academy of Mt. Emei, Lingdong School of Guangdong Buddhist College, and Executive Director of the Research Center for Maitreya Studies, Mount Xuedou. He was formerly Lecturer and Associate Professor at the Center for Studies of Chinese Thinkers, Nanjing University, and Associate Professor, Professor, Ph.D. Supervisor at the Department of Philosophy, Nanjing University.
He works on Buddhist philosophy and literature, more specifically on Yogācāra, Abhidharma, and Buddhist logic.
His work includes A Critical Biography of Xuanzang and Vijñāna and Vijñānapariṇāma: On the Fundamental Issues of Xuanzang's Vijñānavāda. He has published over 40 academic papers in journals both within mainland China and overseas, including Philosophical Research and Studies in World Religions, etc. He has presided over multiple research projects including projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China(NSSFC) and a Key Project of the National Social Science Fund's Later Stage Funding Program.
